Bomb Farm Equipment Sets

Obsidian, Magma, and Void — what each set does and which heroes should wear it.

Equipment Sets

Equipment sets are named gear tiers that go beyond individual +0 to +15 upgrades. The August 2026 update introduced three new sets — Obsidian, Magma, and Void — alongside the hero level cap raise to 500. Each set has a theme, a bonus, and a roster of pieces you collect from Battle and Ritual. This page tells you which set is worth chasing and which roles actually benefit.

If you are still building your first squads in Dawn Quarry, read Getting Started first. Sets are mid-to-late Map content; the basics on Gear and Ritual come first.

How equipment sets work

A set is a named collection of gear pieces — helm, chest, pants, boots, flask, ring, necklace — that each belong to one of three families: Obsidian, Magma, or Void. Wearing multiple pieces from the same set activates a set bonus that grows stronger the more pieces you equip from that family.

The bonus is not cosmetic. Set bonuses add percentage modifiers to stats, damage, or recovery that stack with your existing +0 to +15 upgrades. A Void helm worn alone gives a smaller modifier; the same helm worn with three other Void pieces gives a larger one.

Set pieces drop in Battle and can appear inside sealed drops revealed in Ritual. The specific drop locations and stage requirements vary; Deep Glacier and Iron Depths are documented as active zones for set piece farming, but pieces can surface earlier in Deep Roots on harder difficulties.

Obsidian set

Theme: Defense and durability.

Obsidian pieces lean toward damage reduction, armor bonuses, and resilience modifiers. The set bonus improves as you equip more pieces, with the full bonus kicking in at four or five worn items depending on the exact piece count.

Who benefits most: Supports and tanks who absorb damage on Hard and Very Hard stages. Attackers also gain survival on long Map pushes where the squad takes repeated hits.

Early verdict: Obsidian is the safe set. It does not accelerate farming but it prevents wipes on harder tiles. If your squad is stalling on Deep Roots Hard because deaths outpace energy recovery, Obsidian pieces on your Support may solve it.

Magma set

Theme: Damage and crit.

Magma gear carries attack power, crit chance, and blast radius modifiers. The set bonus amplifies damage output, especially on multi-target kills where the grid spawns groups of small enemies.

Who benefits most: Attackers on climb docks and anyone pushing difficulty stars where raw damage is the gate. Attackers who already wear +10 Ritual pieces gain the most from Magma because the base damage is higher before the set multiplier applies.

Early verdict: Magma is the carry set. It accelerates the Map pin when Attackers are already strong. If your climb dock is the bottleneck and the squad can survive the tile, Magma pieces on your best Attacker can shave days off a stuck bar.

Void set

Theme: Loot and resource gathering.

Void gear modifies gold income, sealed drop rates, and resource collection speed. The set bonus improves as more pieces are worn, making it the only set that directly affects how fast your account accumulates resources.

Who benefits most: Farm dock Collectors and anyone who runs Easy or Normal overnight. Void on a Collector with vacuum or loot text stacks with the base Collector role bonus for a larger overnight print.

Early verdict: Void is the economy set. It does not help a wipe, but it makes every overnight Easy run more productive. If your farm dock is already stable and you want to accelerate Ritual spending without touching the Market, Void on your Collector is the quiet way to do it.

Set farming priorities

Do not chase sets in Dawn Quarry. Early Map pieces drop at the same rarity as generic +0 to +15 gear; the set label is on the piece, not on the drop rate. By the time you reach Deep Glacier, you will have a sense of which set fits your bottleneck.

Priority order:

  1. Survival is broken — farm Obsidian first. A dead Attacker does zero damage. If Hard and Very Hard are wiping your climb dock, Obsidian solves the problem Magma cannot.
  2. Climb is stalled but stable — add Magma to Attackers. If the squad survives but the bar moves too slowly, damage is the next multiplier.
  3. Farm dock is the goal — stack Void on your best Collector. Overnight Easy with Void pieces prints more than the same dock without them.

Set bonuses stack with each other if you mix pieces from different sets, but the active bonus is reduced compared to a full set. Wearing two Obsidian and two Magma pieces gives a partial bonus from each; it is better than nothing but not as strong as four pieces from one family.

Set pieces and fusion

Set pieces can be forged and upgraded in Ritual just like regular gear. A Void helm at +10 is still a Void helm. Fusion stars on set pieces follow the same rules as any other item.

Do not fuse set pieces you are wearing. If a piece is part of an active set bonus, removing it breaks the bonus and forces a rebuild. Check whether the set is actually solving your bottleneck before you lock pieces into a fusion that removes them from the dock.

Set pieces can also appear in Steam Market listings. Because set bonuses are role-adjacent, a Magma Attacker helm may command a premium over an Obsidian Support piece. Price check before you list a set piece you are not sure about.

Set bonuses and the skill tree

Account skill tree modifiers apply to whoever is in Battle regardless of gear. A Void Collector benefits from both the set bonus and the global tree modifiers for gold and loot. This stacking is intentional; it means farming with the right set and the right tree spine produces a larger multiplier than either alone.

The August 2026 patch that added the three sets also raised the hero level cap to 500. Higher levels mean more ability ranks, which pair with set gear on the same body. A Collector at level 400 in full Void with a tree specced into loot is the extreme end of the farm build.

FAQ

Do sets drop in Dawn Quarry?

Set pieces can appear as early as Dawn Quarry on Normal and higher difficulties, but drop rates are lower in early worlds. Deep Glacier and Iron Depths have higher set piece frequency.

Can I mix two sets at once?

Yes, but the set bonus is reduced compared to a full single set. Partial set bonuses from two families are weaker than a full four-piece bonus from one.

Which set is best for Inferno?

Obsidian for survival and Magma for damage, used together. Inferno is a survival-damage check; a pure Void farm build will die there. Build Obsidian first, then add Magma.

Do set pieces cost more on the Market?

Magma Attacker pieces and high-plus Void Collector pieces may carry a premium. Price check before listing.

Are sets reset by seasons?

Unknown. If a season reset lands, set pieces may or may not carry over. Treat set gear as sticky until seasons says otherwise.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What are Bomb Farm equipment sets?

Named gear families — Obsidian, Magma, Void — that grant set bonuses when multiple pieces from the same family are worn. They were added in the August 2026 update alongside the hero level cap raise to 500.

Which set is best for farming?

Void, for Collectors on the farm dock. The loot and gold modifiers stack with Collector role bonuses for a larger overnight print. See Gear and Ritual.

Which set is best for pushing difficulty?

Magma for damage and Obsidian for survival. Use both on the climb dock. If the squad keeps dying, Obsidian first. If the squad survives but the bar is slow, add Magma.

Do set pieces stack with the skill tree?

Yes. Set bonuses and account tree modifiers are both active simultaneously. A Void Collector with tree nodes specced into loot gets both multipliers.
